\nThis presentation discusses the various industries currently using drones for increased efficiency and safety. \; Also discussed are the current FAA regulations required to operate commercially and the best practices involved to ensure safe operation. \; Additional topics include how BWC is using drones and the types of assistance they can provide to Ohio employers interested in creating their own drone program.

\nJosh oversees the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program for the Ohio Bureau of Workers&rsquo\; Compensation. The UAS program uses drones to document catastrophic workplace accidents investigated by the Safety Violations Investigation Unit. Additionally\, the program provides information to Ohio employers on how to implement UAS within their own businesses in a safe and responsible way. Josh is a certified remote Pilot in Command (FAA Part 107 remote pilot with a small UAS certification). Josh also works as a Digital Forensic Analyst within the Special Investigations Department and is a 17 year BWC employee.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Safety Council is a program of the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce\, co-sponsored by The Ohio Bureau of Workers'\; Compensation Division of Safety &\; Hygiene.

Purpose

\n\n

It takes concern and dedication to instill an awareness of worker safety. \; The MOV Safety Council strives to provide increased safety awareness through the combined efforts of companies and the community at large.

Safety Council Goals

\n\n

To provide a forum for businesses and industries interested in occupational safety and health.
To examine and resolve potential and existing safety and health problems.
To Inform participants of new safety and health techniques\, products and services and to provide a thorough knowledge of these services.
To encourage safety programs through a Safety Campaign.

Membership to Safety Council is open to representatives of business and industry in the Mid-Ohio Valley interested in developing increased safety awareness. \;The annual membership fee is $50 per company.

\n\n

Luncheons are held with presentations on a wide variety of safety subjects as requested by the membership. \; Safety Council meets monthly\, usually on the third Wednesday of each month.
