Ribbon Cutting to celebrate the completion of Cole Stine's Eagle Scout Project
"My name is Cole Stine, I am 16 years old and currently a junior at Marietta High School. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 207, I began my journey in scouting when I was in 4th grade. Meanwhile I have accomplished all the ranks in scouting and I'm proud to say that I have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. I began my project at the age of 15. I knew I wanted it to be something that would benefit the community for years to come. So, I picked to renovate Indian Acres park in Marietta, Ohio. My project included painting bathrooms, cleaning up a riverbank, redoing the fence posts around the parking lot and most importantly, building a 24 by 48 pavilion along the river. I started by collecting donations from local businesses, then I went to a city council meeting and asked for $15,000 of grant money that was left over from a different project. After that we began building the pavilion in May of 2023 and with the help of the scouts and local businesses it was completed in June of 2024. I have enjoyed working with the community on this project and plan to take on other projects like this in the future. Thank you for taking an interest in my project. I hope to see you at the ribbon cutting on August 12th. - Yours in Scouting, Cole Stine"
